Welcome to Serenity Bamboo Flute. Since 1974, our family has made and sold our distinct style of Dark Bamboo Wooden Flutes at Juried Craft Fairs and Music Festivals throughout the Northeast United States. We sell only Individually Handcrafted Bamboo Wooden Flutes and Walking Stick Flutes that are made by us at our home/shop in the beautiful rolling hills of Stockbridge, Massachusetts.

Over our many years of selling our Flutes at Juried Craft Fairs and Music Festivals we have introduced thousands of people, young and old, to the simple joyful pleasure of playing a bamboo wooden flute. Children that we once sold Flutes to many years ago now return with their own children to our craft booth for a lesson on how to play a bamboo wooden flute. And so the Big Wheel keeps on turning.

Over 35 years experience making and selling bamboo wooden flutes enables us to offer you a quality musical instrument at a reasonable price.

We do not use sound clips to demonstrate the tone of our bamboo wooden flutes. After trying them for a while we decided that playing the bamboo flute live, over the phone, gave the truest sound without embellishments. When we work at fairs we play and demonstrate our bamboo flutes to anyone interested in learning how to get a tone on a side blown flute. We do not mind playing our bamboo wooden flutes over the phone for you. This is what we do.

If you would like to hear how any of our bamboo wooden flutes or walking stick flutes sound, just give us a call at our toll free number below. We'll be happy to play you a scale or short ditty. You can also listen to the different Keys that our bamboo flutes come in.

You can also have a Dark Bamboo Wooden Flute Personalized with a Name, Initials or Small Inscription.

Go Here for a more detailed description of our Bamboo Wooden Flutes. Testimonials

DARK BAMBOO WOODEN FLUTES

The style of Wooden Flutes that we make are called 'Transverse Flutes', they are played sideways like a metal Concert Flute. We Individually Concert Tune our Bamboo Wooden Flutes to a Major Scale and they play a range of up to two octaves. The exterior 'Tortoise Shell' pattern of our wooden flutes is very unique and no two are alike. The process was developed by us over our many years of working with bamboo wood. The outside of our Bamboo Wooden Flutes are protected with a durable, water proof finish.

Go to our How to Play Page if you would like a quick lesson on how to play a tone on a side blown wooden flute.

We begin the process of making our wooden flutes by selecting the choicest sections from raw bamboo poles (the rest ends up as kindling in winter). We look for consistency in the wall thickness of the bamboo wood as well as for pieces with no major blemishes. From there it takes over 23 steps to go from raw bamboo pole to a completed Dark Bamboo Wooden Flute.

Bamboo wood is a perfect material to use in making flutes and has been used for this purpose for thousands of years. You can read our short article, history of the flute, if you would like to learn more about the evolution of the modern concert flute. Wooden flutes made from bamboo wood have a very mellow, resonating quality that is characteristic of the bamboo wood. When you sound a true, strong tone on one of our bamboo flutes you can feel the flute vibrate in your hands. The upper register of our bamboo wooden flutes can also really sing and sound great when jamming along with other instruments.

If you happen to play a concert flute you will love our flutes. We sell many of our bamboo wooden flutes to metal flute players who like to have a flute they can take along with them for a day in the park without the worry of taking along their expensive flute.

WHAT SIZE WOODEN FLUTE SHOULD I GET?

We suggest that beginners, who have never played a side blown flute before, begin with one of our bamboo wooden flutes that is in either the key of 'A' or 'G'. The Key of 'G' is a little deeper in tone than the Key of 'A' and is also a popular key for playing along with other instruments. The key of 'A' is also a great sounding Flute and may be a better choice for someone with smaller hands because the finger holes are slightly closer. Either size bamboo wooden flute would be fine to start with.

Remember, the longer the flute, the deeper the tone but the more distant the finger stretch to cover the holes. If you are a beginner you need to be concentrating on getting the clearest, strongest tone possible and not also struggling with a long finger stretch. It is better to start with a smaller flute and as you become proficient, move on to the longer and deeper toned wooden flutes.

These are sturdy, well made Bamboo Wooden Flutes. Perfect for taking along with you on your travels. Just toss one in your pocket or backpack and sing along with the birds.

Each Bamboo Wooden Flutes comes with Free Playing Instructions.
